The Crow Queen
Domains: Death, Knowledge, Grave, Twilight
The Crow Queen is the goddess of memory, history and death. She is depicted as a hooded humanoid, often with a bird-like face or mask. She is said to guide the souls of the dead to the next world, and her crows would listen and carry the memories of their lives to her library. Kenku are said to be her servants. As she guides the souls of the dead, she is prayed to at the moment of death, at funerals and battlefields. But she is also prayed to by scholars uncovering ancient history or anyone fondly reminiscing on old memories.
It is said that as Earth was working on her Creations, the Sun was not always pleased with the results and burnt them to cinder. As Storm started roaming the world and bringing motion, she sometimes got carried away and her powers would bring destruction. With these events, the Crow Queen was awakened. The Earth took the destroyed bodies back to itself, but the souls were lost without their bodies, scattered to the wind and unsure where to go next. It was the Crow Queen who took on the charge to collect and guide these souls onward. She also collected their stories - their memories of what they had lived through, the places they had been and people they had known - and preserved them. The Earth loves its creation as it is and will be, but the Crow Queen loves all that has been, and keeps it even as it ends.
Some, but few, see the Crow Queen as an evil goddess, as they see her not only as the caretaker of the dead but also as the one who decides who lives and who dies. Certain followers of the Crow Queen, in turn, believes that it is their job as their followers to carry out her judgement, killing in her name.
