Session 08-First Day On The Job
Summary
You woke feeling refreshed, and with your first pay in pocket. Gouda had especially vivid, wonderful dreams. You found breakfast and coffee at the Bound Bean to the delight of the harengon bartender for your continued patronage, but he became less delighted when Gouda dropped a Create Water spell on the rival apprentice librarian in pink (who threw a fit and some Magic Missiles after the soaking ruined her appearance), and he was persuaded to offer the group free breakfast throughout your stay. Gouda's Detect Magic spell revealed Illusion magic around the lady, and Conjuration magic in the amulet with Gargauth's sigil and the purple crystal from the Horror section. Jack Pott seemed very much amused at the water antics, and at Rollie trying to pickpocket him, giving you a discount on the Bookmark artifact and ivory peg leg and mace. You then visited the blacksmith, got a Book Club+3, and headed into the History section. Adventure and History were arguing near the entrance about what to do - something bad had happened but History couldn't remember it. A large chunk of History's recent pages are missing. You agreed to help, following him into his section. Gouda stopped to read a book to obtain a ring, the rest of the party continued on, spotting a golden hollyphant in the military history subsection, some animated vegetables on an overturned old-fashioned cart in the agricultural history subsection, and several book pages burning in a brazier in the religious history subsection. The orc, dwarf, and kobold who you saw yesterday emerged from a cave and asked if you would be interested in a "fine opportunity, so long as you keep History quiet." Thistle objected, sent a telepathic message to Gouda, YA stole the orc's purple gem, and History is about to start the combat.
