Session 19-The Void of Adventure
Summary
Some more treasure chests were found with goodies and gold, traps were disarmed, the beach was scouted, and Young Adult went back to the Exit to restore her health. The others checked out Adventure's Written Realms for trouble and found it to be just bare fragments of land with another familiar amulet draining it. Gouda saved Thashallot from falling into the void, and with careful precision Thistle and Rollie joined them to walk across the void on a glowing blue-red path to what was left of the island, where Rollie broke the ritual with a dagger on a string. Investigation of the island in the Real Realm revealed evidence that the other group of apprentice librarians (with the kobold and rat, too) had been there and possibly dug a sword out of the broken altar. Carefully exiting Adventure as it was beginning to restore, the group talked with the blacksmith Pyre and found History should be fully repaired after tomorrow, and Pyre can work through the night to try and have Young Adult's armor ready by morning.
Notes
- Shallot and Gouda went to scout (Shallot almost fell into a void) and saw there was another one of those amulets in Adventure's written realms
- Turns out no, we cannot take YA with us using a crystal
- Thistle took her back to the entrance so that she could find someone to read her while we investigated the written realms
- YA found a dragonborn lady who was very excited about being able to revisit some stories of young love
- Rollie picked up 175g, a black mask, and a resurrection pill from a chest he investigated (rappelled down with his rope, poked at the chest and seemed to be just a chest, so he lock picked it and opened it)
- Rollie also managed to throw his dagger really well despite it having string tied to it (Gouda's suggestion to keep it from accidentally being lost in the void) and knocked the amulet out of the sigils and it dissipated
- he went to pull out the amulet and realized the hole was made to fit some kind of sword, and perhaps the sword was taken
- Shallot tried to put her greatsword into the slot but it was too large to fit
- since we were probably where the island was, we mostly decided to just travel back to the library where we stood
- Gouda didn't like the idea of being stuck on the island and having to go back through the written realms again though since you get the papercut every time you use the crystal, so she ran back so she could take a boat over to the island
- on the island was the same hole where a sword probably should be, bones of some deceased 'pirates', and an open treasure chest
- pirates are probably just set pieces, seem like they weren't actually real
- Shallot found a piece of gold under the chest
- Gouda noticed there were in fact other sets of footprints that looked somewhat recent that seemed to correspond to the other party of adventurers, including Lythwin
- trying not to disturb too much and also wanting to avoid dealing with more traps, Rollie, Shallot, and Gouda ended up opting to go back through the written realms after all, noticing it was starting to repair the maze and the sand bank
- Thistle flew back over the maze, stopping to investigate a couple chests
- found and disabled a magical trap that would have hit him with a lightning strike to find 75g, a star rose quartz, a red silk pouch (he hasn't opened it yet to see what's in it), and a Cannonshot Sling
- we met up at the entrance and headed back to the main hall
- the House Ola guards were still around and suspicious of us, mostly, except for the one fellow who keeps looking for Gouda, but she'd morphed again into her amalgamation so he didn't recognize her
- we talked to Pyre who said History is about halfway put together
- she didn't know where Adventure was and hadn't seen him for a while
- wasn't sure about the sword either, maybe 'sword in the stone'
- Rollie gave her the armor he'd found earlier and asked if she could make it into armor for YA
- she said yes though she had been about to call it for the night and while she COULD maybe make it by morning she'd have to lose sleep for it
- took a bit of persuasion but we got her to do that anyway and also not make us pay the whole cost upfront, so Rollie only had to pay 25g for now
- we were still debating a little but probably going to let someone know about Lythwin's involvement with the Gargauth cult before we call it and head to bed as it was getting towards evening
- Thistle intends to give the cannonshot sling to YA to upgrade her blow darts
